"Whatchu mean, preschool??"
A very exciting day for the Kiefer household - Preschool Registration! Everyone was very excited until we realized we were missing one thing - a birth certificate! Parents of the year right here, folks! We decided to still go to the open house even without proof that this little boy would really be 3 by Sept 1.
He ran full throttle into his "new school" until he saw that there were other people there. Then he decide he's rather "just go home." We verified that they'd still take him with a birth certificate (the darn thing showed up the following Tuesday) and headed off to see his classroom. He met his teacher and played with the toys while I filled out the paperwork and wrote our first of many checks. His teacher, Mrs. Steele, said that the first task is to teach them independence. Each kid is responsible for putting their book bag away and signing in as soon as they walk in the door. I'll admit that I was a little sad when she told me that a book bag is the only school supply he'll need. Everything was going really well until the very end, when Mrs. Steele tried to tell him good bye... and he closed his eyes and pretending to snore!
Next Steps: potty training and a home visit with Mrs. Steele in the summer. Oh, and picking out a book bag...how on earth do you only pick ONE?!?

Preschool already? I think I am excited and sad all at the same time. He is growing up WAY too fast! I can't wait to see which backpack he (you) will choose;)
