He's Ready...

First "real" backpack
Shoes!
4 - 6 cups of dry snacks and a change of clothes...
Folder from Mrs. Steele!

Tomorrow is the big day for our little boy... his first day of preschool! I could post all the typical mom things... where did my baby go? they grow up so fast! why can't they stay little forever? But instead, I'll smile through my tears and thank God that I was chosen to be part of this little boy's journey through life.

Here's to new beginnings, new friends and new adventures. I can't wait to experience and enjoy this step of parenthood!

Our Little House on The Prairie: Aug 8 - Aug 12

I think this sums up the week perfectly...

Our first brick choice was discontinued, the brick layer wasn't happy with the way the our second choice looked at a nearby house...so we were back to square one this week. We think we found a winner in Smithton. Fingers crossed it's still available.

We did finalize the flooring on Saturday morning so not all was lost this week. Up next: insulators, drywallers and a final decision on lights.

The goal is to knock our brick, lighting and paint colors out quickly so we can eventually give JP a real name!

Our Little House on The Prairie: Aug 1 - Aug 5

It was a slow picture week at the Kiefer house. That being said, it was also a very important week....geothermal installation has started! I honestly do not understand the process so I'm not really sure what happens next. All I know is that 55 degree weather will be constantly circulating through our floor. Kind of strange when you think about it...but bring on that smaller electric bill and tax return!!
Geothermal tubes, pipes or something...
Drilling the holes the pipes will run through...
Looked like a messy job!
We also got our central vac!! Woot! Our cleaning lady doesn't check the blog, but I know she's going to be so excited!
Master bath shower pan!

This week we hope to finalize brick, lights and flooring.

Blog Hijack: "JP" @ 20/21 Weeks

I'm sure most of you know by now that we still don't know if JP is a boy or girl. The little stinker had his/her knees together and ankles locked. The ultrasound tech showed up multiple times how tightly he/she was holding his/her legs together. The funny thing is that she told us a lot of people haven't been able to find out lately because a lot of babies have been stubborn. I laughed and thought not THIS baby! Little did I know we'd be walking out a few minutes later still wondering if Austin was getting a baby sister or baby brother.

The ultrasound tech also had trouble getting a clear shot of JP's heart so we get another peek on August 23. (I later found out that she sometimes says that just so parents can come back for a "medically necessary" ultrasound to find out the sex) They wanted us to wait until my appointment on Sept 6 but I think they realized this mama wasn't waiting that long!

The most important thing is that he/she looked happy and healthy! So without further ado....here he or she is coming in at approximately 13 ounces......

Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. You may soon feel like she's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows and lids are present now, and if you're having a girl, her vagina has begun to form as well.
