Our Little House on the Prairie: July 5 - July 8

The word of the week: ROOF!!
Trusses in place 7/5
Lots of plywood for the roof!
Starting to look like a real roof on 7/6
Austin and Jay in our dining room window
A full roof on 7/9!
Next week's project - papering the roof!
Our garage looks like a mini lumber yard!
It was great to see our house start to look like a REAL house this week! The biggest challange this week was a change to the laundry room layout. The original plan called for a closet - but after see it studded out we decided to remove the closet and and more counter top for a better use of space. Next week we're working on decisions for flooring, cabinets, lighting and interior doors. Should be a busy week! Hopefully we have a shingled roof by the end of the week!

Standing in kitchen looking towards front door through living room
A lot less boards by Thursday!

Come on in, Pa!
Back of the house  and patio
From 300+ boards to 24 in only four days!

We are so excited about the progress we've seen so far. Our biggest issue this week was the placement of the fireplace, but I think we've got it all figured out and it will end up working out perfect. Can't wait to see what next week brings! Looks like we're going to have to start making some important decisions very soon!!

Fireman's Parade {2011}

The Fireman's parade did not disappoint once again this year! Austin didn't want to get to close, which was just fine by me. We had just as much fun and got plenty of candy from the second row! Special thinks to the Landgraf's for letting us sit in their yard!

Austin: Dad, who was that {on the phone}
Jay: It was Dad's boss. His name is Wendell.
Austin: {long pause}
Austin: I thought Mom was boss!
