Week 27

Today is the start of week 27. Only 90 days until July 11. Where has the time gone? Check out how big he's getting...

This week your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like the head of cauliflower) and is about 14.4 inches long with his legs extended. He can now open and close his eyes, and he sleeps and wakes at regular intervals. He may suck his fingers, and although his lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning ? with assistance ? if he were to be born prematurely. Chalk up any rhythmic movement you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and isn't bothersome to him, so enjoy the tickle. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. Wonder what he's thinking?

My glucose test came back without any problems. Bring on the sugar!

Our next appointment is at 30 weeks on May 1. After that I'll start going every three weeks instead of every 4. Time is flying!

One Year Later...

Oh Boy!

It's a boy! It's a boy! Oh boy, it's a boy!

I think we're both still in shock. I guess you should aways trust your gut when it comes to these things. For some reason I just "knew" it was a boy, but I was still so surprised when she told us yesterday. I swear time stood still between "do you want to know" and "it's a boy!" Jay jumped right out of his chair to get a closer look. I couldn't help but throw an "I told you so!" at him! The baby closed his legs shortly after we had seen the goods. It was like he did what he had to do and then he was going back to bed!

Everything during the ultrasound looked great. The tech said he has everything he needs to be a healthy little boy. Right now he weighs about 14 oz and is on track for a due date of 7/11.
